Additional Details About Vanity Towers

If you are ordering a vanity, consider adding a vanity tower. A vanity tower is a tall cabinet that sits on the vanity, transforming empty counter space into useful storage. We build the towers to match your vanity. The cabinet shown is constructed of reclaimed pine wood with adjustable shelves, finished with a matte conversion varnish.

Reclaimed Barn Wood
Reclaimed lumber and barn wood are a one-of-a-kind, green material that has been given a second life. We exclusively use reclaimed lumber that has been harvested from century-old (and older!) barns in Ohio. Reclaimed lumber is popular for many reasons: the wood's unique appearance, its contribution to green building, the history of the wood's origins, and the wood's physical characteristics such as strength, stability, and durability. Please be aware that reclaimed barn wood is rustic with small knots, color variations, nail holes, and wormholes; however, that is what gives it beauty and character.

Vanity Tower Design
You can choose if you'd like to place your tower in the center of two sinks, or on both sides of a single sink, or on the left or right of a single sink. Just make sure that the vanity is wide enough to do so. We will be glad to help you design the best vanity setup for your room.

Because vanity towers are set on the countertop, they do eliminate counter space, so they work best on a wide vanity. Many customers with double vanities put the tower between the two sinks, creating visual interest with their extra storage. You may put two towers on each side of a single sink providing you have a wider vanity to accommodate them. On smaller single sink vanities,  you may choose to have the tower on either the left or right side. Be sure to tell us where you want your hinges. Typically, if your tower is on the right side of your sink, the hinges are on the right side as well. If the tower is on the left, then the hinges would be on the left. This allows the cabinet to open towards the center of the vanity.

Remember that the vanity tower door opens on top of your counter so you cannot put anything on the counter in front of tower doors unless you want to move it each time you open the cabinet. If you put an open shelf on the bottom of the cabinet, then the door may possibly open above anything you have on the counter. As you plan the location of your vanity towers, consider recessing or partially recessing the vanity tower into the wall behind it. This will give you extra storage space without taking up as much counter space.

It’s very useful to install electrical plugs in your vanity tower. You can store small appliances such as electric water flossers and toothbrushes, hairdryers, and shavers inside the towers, without electrical cords making a mess on bathroom counters.

Add style to your bathroom by putting put some open shelves in the tower then adding decor items such as plants, or storage baskets. If you’re looking for design elements such as mirrored or glass doors, they are available as an upgrade.

The most common time to add a vanity tower is when you order a vanity so that you can match the tower with the vanity. However, if you want a tower but don’t want a vanity, you can use a contrasting or complementary finish on the vanity tower and still create a great look.
